Rome, ItalyThe property refurbishment bears the signature of South African designer Tristan Du Plessis, who played with styles, textures and materials to create a space with a really unique character. Original architectural features like vaulted ceilings and exposed-brick arches are complemented with a range of brass, steel, bronze and copper elements that pay tribute to the ancient blacksmith tradition of the neighbourhood. He also decorated the common areas with contemporary art pieces and striking murals by some of the city’s best street artists in circulation.
The hotel also features an organic bistrot and grocery store, the Market, offering a selection of light dishes and a juice bar, while the Hey Güey rooftop terrace is the place to be for refreshing summer drinks and juicy tacos surrounded by subtropical greenery and Roman rooftops.
The industrial theme continues through the hotel’s 42 characterful bedrooms, which are available in a range of sizes and layouts, from compact Pads for solo travellers to spacious Suites.
Warm wooden flooring is combined with marbles, velvet headboards, steel and brass fittings, creating spaces that strike a balance between industrial minimalism and glamour. All rooms, which either overlook the courtyard or the city, feature several unique details such as vintage telephones, Marshall speakers, smart TVs, carefully selected design furnishings, and bespoke pieces by local artisans. Lofts and Suites also have their private bar area.
The spacious bathrooms boast granite marble floors, rough cement walls, brass fittings and are equipped with large walk-in showers and organic toiletries by La Bruket.
Chapter’s fabulous décor draws on local tradition and contaminates it with industrial details, graffiti art, and nods to the area's blacksmith heritage. The result is a genuinely bold, original design.
The hotel’s convenient central location in the heart of Rome offers easy access to several great attractions such as the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps, which can be reached in just about 15 minutes on foot.
