Adler Suite & Stube

villabassa, Italy
Overview
The Adler is a quintessentially alpine hotel in the center of Villabassa, an idyllic village amidst the Unesco-protected Dolomites. The property offers an excellent restaurant, a wellness center, easy access to the ski tracks and the warmest of Tyrolean welcomes. Beds are the best in the world.
Hotel Adler is a beautiful mountain hideaway located in Villabassa, a lovely village in the heart of South Tyrol’s beautiful Alta Pusteria valley. With 400 years of history, the property stays true to south tyrolean traditions, with a cozy Stube (living room) dating from the 17th century, lots of warm wood and the great hospitality of the Pircher family. The Wilhelminian-style facade oozes classic alpine charm, while the green-shuttered windows frame lovely views of the mountains.

No less impressive are the facilities, which include a playroom with board games and movies, a library, a children’s corner to entertain the little ones and a wellness area complete with an indoor pool, a Finnish sauna, a steam bath, a vitarium, an aromatic shower and a number of relaxation zones. Guests can also enjoy a range of massages or work out in the gym.

The hotel’s sun terrace is the perfect spot to spend a relaxing afternoon in warm months, while the fireplace room is a great place to cozy up with a book and a glass of wine on cold, wet days.

Food & Drinks
Adler’s restaurant is helmed by Helene Markart, a talented chef of the region who inherited the passion for cooking from her grandmother. It’s no surprise that Tyrolean delicacies feature highly on the menu, with tradition as the key ingredient of each dish. Chef Markart also prepares a number of Mediterranean and international dishes, making use of what’s seasonal and local, from home-smoked bacon to eggs sourced from the farmer next door.

Her dishes are beautifully plated and accompanied by a great selection of South Tyrolean and international blends from the restaurant’s own cellar. On Fridays it’s fine dining by candlelight here, while Tyrolean nights with local specialties and music occur every Tuesday. For drinks, there’s an intimate bar and fireplace room with a great selection of classic wines and gins. Every Sunday evening, an aperitivo with finger food is offered to guests.

In the morning, the breakfast buffet comprises a local fare of homemade pastries, fresh juices, local eggs, fruit preserves and South Tyrolean cheeses.

Rooms

Adler offers a selection of rooms and suites that combine traditional alpine character with contemporary boutique style. The blend of natural materials, soft shades and distinctive furnishing style make them a welcoming place to relax. Each room is equipped with beds by Swedish brand Hästens, which are regarded as the best beds in the world and ensure the ultimate night’s sleep.

Guests can choose from five room types: the simple and comfortable Standard Rooms in the attic, Comfort Rooms overlooking the village main square, spacious Superior Rooms, Junior Suites with balcony and comfortable sitting area, and slick Suites. Even more luxurious is Suite 401, a spacious penthouse with a living room with fireplace and a splendid panoramic terrace with a jacuzzi.
